Hardening Off

In a small nursery, we created a model production factory where each stage of plant growth could be investigated, and the correct climate control techniques could be implemented.

During the propagation stage, temperature and RH control are critical.

During the on-growing stage, plants need more light and this is where screens are needed. Also temperature and humidity levels still need to be regulated.

During the hardening-off stage, the plants need to be prepared for living and growing in the outside world, where conditions can be less than favourable. They can be grown in this stage in a moving shade house or an open roof house.

If, during each of these stages, the climate is controlled effectively, then when the plants or crops are sold to the public, they will be of the highest quality.

The trials helped us to discover the best methods of climate control, and the best ways to implement Svensson Screens.
